I would agree with the previous answer on the Grandaddy tip- also check out Paddy Casey, Damien Dempsey, Damien Rice, Ben Harper, and the wedding band from Old School.

Firstly, ignore the eejits referring to Bryan Adams.
Secondly, as a matter of urgency, dig out albums by Chuck Prophet (and his earlier band Green on Red). Neal Casal was a member of The Cardinals, and has made labums of his own, Jesse Malin has been produced by Ryan, and RA thinks he's a genius. Alejandro Escovado. Dave Alvin. Mark Eitzel/ American Music Club. You might also enjoy bands like Grandaddy, Midlake and Sparklehorse. Just wonder if you think, as I do, that Ryan Adams would be a much more effective artist if he didn't release quite so much stuff!

Tom Mcrae possibly - he is a lot more somber than Ryan Adams but I think he is brilliant!
Also belle and sebastian for an upbeat ryan adams style!

Ummm... cant think of any more of the top of my head - but it is a start right! :D

Hope you enjoy!
