yes, it is a ripoff. You pay to watch (quite a lot!) and then the programs are full of ads every few minutes so that's being stuffed down your throat too. We used to moan there was nothing on 4 channels of telly but now we moan there's nothing on hundreds! I've got Flicker's Finger.

I have had telewest and Sky, prefer Sky as you have more channel choice.
However under the current pricing you lose out on several channels. I pay for entertainment and documentaries plus Movie Channels. £34 a month! However i do not get Discovery Kids, or Discovery Wings, both of which I have argued are documentary channels! Also I think MTV can be argued as being an Entertainment channel, but I do not get that either.
I swapped from Telewest as they did not have any plus one channels at the time and the text service never worked.
The main problem I have with Sky at the moment is my Sky Plus box, I have had 4 since Christmas!

About a year ago my dish started to play up and I contacted SKY to get it looked at. I'd been a customer for about 7 years ( mostly for the footy ), but it was still too much trouble to send somebody out anytime soon, and they wouldn't commit to stating when anybody would come out. The best they could do was that somebody would contact me 24 hours in advance to confirm an appointment ... I'm sorry, but people work in order to pay for the crap SKY put on their channels, so that wasn't going to work ... and it was going to cost a small fortune to fix when somebody did come out.
I told them to forget it, and cancelled my contract. I had to give them a month's notice, and then it was adios.
In the months following I was contacted in every way you can imagine offering me half price subcriptions for 6 months, or free movies for 6 months ... what a pity they weren't falling over themselves to help when I was an existing customer !!
TV is mostly crap anyway, SKY offers a whole load more crap for a payment ... personally, it got to the stage when I was paying £40 a month and hardly ever watching it ... kinda made no sense. Now I have Freeview, and I don't care if I never watch it, because I'm not forking out for it ( though it's cool that Film Four is now available ). I can honestly say I don't miss SKY.

No I have Sky and am very happy with the service and the channels. I only tend to watch about 10-15 channels but they cover the types of programs I like to watch and while there are a lot of repeats on some channels (UK TV GOLD is all repeats, but then it is supposed to be). I think the film channels can be a rip off as they tend to over repeat movies, but the sports channels are very good.

Yes definite rip off pay loads for it but never really watch any other channels than BBC or ITV. Except maybe a bit of sport on sky sports 1. Most of the movie channel show rubbish can't even remember when I last watched one of them. Sky one is just repeats of the Simpson and alike. As for the rest of the channel pure drivel!

Yeah it sure is a rip off!! I cancelled subscription about 4 months ago, the films are repeated all the time, and they even split the channels up so you have to get two packages now instead of one. And if you get sports because you obviously want to watch all the big stuff, they have the damn cheek to charge you pay-per-view on really major events. They are a con, and must think people dont realise it.
Unfortunatly who do you go to, other than free view? Talk about market domination. Grrrrrrrr.

Its a complete rip off. There's never anything on it I want to watch and with all the money they rake in from adverts (which are shown far too frequently) shouldn't they pay us to watch it? I could do away with all channels bar Channel 4 which I love however my oh loves football hence the need for sky!

I don't think sky is a rip off, no more than I think spending loadsa money each month on a mobile phone is a rip off. Anyone that buys these things does so voluntarily. The clever bit, to my mind is that the companies selling these products have managed to convince their customers that they NEED these things. That's marketing for you! The aim of any business is to get money out of peoples pockets, no exceptions. :-) P.S. I don't have sky, I think it's a waste of money. lol

I upgraded my Sky HD and further Sky events HD a million,2,3 & 4 for decrease than an more effective £11 p/m. in my view it is very sturdy fee, quite once you concentrate on that modern-day BT imaginative and prescient customers get charged £11 for Sky events a million or 2(not HD), or £16 for Sky events a million & 2 (not HD)

Yes but mostly because they don't look after their existing customers. A friend of mine recently terminated his contract with sky because he was annoyed with all the special offers they kept doing for new customers. He told them that too.
