There shall be 48 Chicken & One pig.
Explanation:- let the Number of chicken be x & pig be y respectively. Then, X+Y =49. & 2X+4Y=100.
So, 2X+2Y=98..........eq1 & 2X+4Y=100........eq2
Subtract eq1 from eq2 and get 2Y=2 so, Y=1. & X=48.

No. of chicken = x
No. of pigs = y
chicks have 2 feet and pigs have 4 feet
so 2x+4y = 100
also both these have one head each
so x+y = 49
solving the above two equations
no. of chicken = x = 48
no. of pigs = y = 1

2x + 4y = 100
x + y = 49
Multiply bottom by -2
2x + 4y = 100
-2x - 2y = -98
2y = 2
y = 1
x + y = 49
x + 1 = 49
x = 48
