Hehe! You collect them and say "Mine, all mine, my precious-s-s"
Then you get to move up a level when you have enough and you can ask MORE questions and answer MORE questions every day ... then you find that you are hooked, have maybe made one or two friends (hopefully no enemies) ... and so it goes.
When Answers was in Beta, we were all guinea pigs, so the points were the pellets that good guinea pigs get for doing something right. Unfortunately, some of us still believe we are guinea pigs. Not me, though

the more you get, the higher you rank.
when you get to 250, you get something good (dunno what)
same for 500 (i think)
etc. etc.
i think the highest number rank is like 25,000 (sheesh)
