What is hypothetical to-day is a reality to-morrow. But not all hypothesis, end in reality. Your becoming a grand father is a hypothesis. Before it is realised, there are many stages to be passed, like marriage, child birth, the marriage of the child etc. Yes, without hypothesis, you cannot imagine life on this earth. Man's inventions were preceded by hypotheses.

To give a straight answer-It is extremely difficult even to visualise a world which would not need some hypothesis or the other for understanding it and also to discar that or even those hypotheses as they become untenable. The latest to be deposed from its august and literally powerful seat in the heavens is that of the Black Holesa a virtual web catching the stars wandering in the heavens as soon as they came within its gravitational field and sucking them of everything. The gravitational pull of these Black Holes was supposed to be so powerful that it would let even light to escape from its clutches. And now all that hypothesis stands exploded. The super-super gravity did not help the Black Hole to guard its honour. Where the distinguishing character of the place, if place it was which now appears it was not, was said to be its gravitational pull holding back even light. This was given as an explanation for nothing being seen there. But recent studies reveal that there is in fact is nothing ,absolutely nothing to be seen there. And there was nothing to see nothing was seen. It is now hypothsed(hypothesis again) that only an extremely powerful gravitation field which can be felt but not seen exists at these points. All those compelling Sce-Fi stories of heroes daring to enter the Black Holes and unravelling its secrets now appear to be the tall stores of former sea fares who spoke about strange land and stranger people across the sea, giving them the stamp of confirmed falsifiers. However, we have a mission to know the truth like Sherlock Holmes and we have to construct another hypotheses for our aim is truth. The road to truth is lined by exploded hypotheses but even knowing its limited scope we have to ask them the road to truth hoping that they know the road and would not deliberately misguide us.

If consciousness is the hypothetical variable, then a world without consciousness would have no hypothetical situations.

Yes, by thinking back a few tens of thousands of years to a time before language was available for creating them. Or, think like a dog - sniff, run, bark...I wonder what life would be like if i wasn't so lucky!

I can imagine a world where there's no war and conflict - only peace. I'd invade it - they'd never see it coming!
