Both. Depends on the individual and the time in their life; very much like straight folks, in fact...go figure.

Of course gays really have emotional connections!

What kind of question is this?

I have been in my relationship for 16 years. Do you think it would have lasted this long if it were only about the sex we have?

What I have is not only an emotional connection, but also a commitment to each other.

When a person considers that half of all straight marriages end in divorce, do straight people really have emotional connections or are they getting married because they think they have to so that they can have sex?

Um, let's see here. Last time I checked whether you're gay or straight, most people want an emotional connection(not connected, dear. Use proper tense.) and not just sex. Why do you think that all of us are nothing but horn dogs just wanting to get our rocks off? Try posing this same question to a straight guy or woman and see what answer you come up with. Don't lump us all together, sweetie.

I can't speak for the lesbians, but from the male perspective: There are some that only want sex, the same as some straights only want sex-- but most gay bois want relationships. I've been with my partner nearly 15 years, and its adorable to watch the young ones coupling up and working out their relationships -- sometimes we even get to offer advice.

Even for those who don't manage boyfriends quickly -- there is a lot of love to give out, and it gets spread to all their friends.

So emotional connectedness is important.

Yes. We are human and we do have emotional connections, just like straight people. The only difference between us is that our intimate relationships are with someone of the same gender.

Do straight people have emotional connections or do they just get married to make babies? Do they like sex, or do they just do it to make babies? See, don't those questions sound ignorant?

Gay people are not much different than straight people. They have emotions and fall in love and form lasting relationships and everything that straight couples do. The difference is that they love the same sex, while straights like the opposite.

As with straight people, sometimes gay people will get involved in sex just for sex. Again, we are no different!

Yes some definately do have emotional connections, while others just go for the hook ups. How is that different than hetero relationships and dating?

both...men love instant sexual gratification...but they also really need and crave emotional connection---much like straight people..I am a GWM. I've been in a stable committed relationship for 19 years....well the sex is good...but after 19 years that's not why you stay...

what is wrong with people like you? just because we fall in love with someone of the same gender you straights think we are obsessed with sex. gay people do live normal lives you know, we work just like you, have family just like you, pay our way just like you, have friends and family just like you, (although im not sure about the friends with your attitude), have feelings and emotions just like you and oh god yes! we do actually fall in love! god forbid! whats the world coming to when 2 people of the same gender fall in love???!!!! look at it in perspective when theres wars and famine and abuse going on right now. we are not robots you know. what about all the hetro kiddy fiddlers? (normally members of the clergy or teachers) and all the rapes you hear about performed on teenage girls by old sad pathetic men and teenage boys because they cant get a woman of their own. Are they emotionally connected? I dont think so. Get a life you narrowminded pr.ick

Gay people are no more promiscuous than straight people. They are statistically far less likely to perpetrate sex crimes, and I believe they tend to have better, stronger emotional connections with their partners.
