Not if it keeps you from helping them. They are people just like you. You need to get over this.

Your question gave me a giggle. I lost my leg in a car accident many years ago. When you are dealing with disabled people, we are not going to bite, you will not be affected by what has happened to us. Just like anyone in this world, disabled or not, we have feelings too. Perhaps you were scared of the sight of a legless man? When I first lost my leg people stared at me, moved away etc. I find young people (maybe you are one) are scared until you understand what it is all about. Always ask an amputee or any disabled person first, then if they need help they will say yes, don't be afraid of us - we do not bite! Love to you!

It's not unusual to be afraid or leery of the things we are not used to.
I was a little uncomfortable around an amputee kid in gradeschool who was the quarterback for our football team untill he showed me his leg and had (practically forced) me to handle it. Things were ok after that and I even got a thrill waiting for the other team to tackle him and knock his leg off. Scared some other kids real bad too when it happened.
Don't let it bother you. Everyone is the same inside. Just ignore the outer differences.

I don't think it's uncommon to be afraid to help someone, and especially if there is someone else to help. I have been in this situation before, where an old man fell to the ground trying to get up a curb. There was no way that I could have left him there without helping him. As well as, the blind man who was standing at the corner, way over the sidewalk, and was about to be hit by a bus. I pulled him back and offered to walk him as far as he needed to be walked. I am sure, that if you were in a situation, and you were the only person there to help, you would.

Yes it is normal, but it is something to thank the God because you have two legs.
I feel petty for them and I don't scared, I use to joke with them and play basketball too.
they are normal, and thousands of normal people do not have a heart which is the most important thing the hemen must have to live like humen.

What is a one legged person going to do to you? It's not like they can chase you! There's not reason to be afraid of them.

its a bit normal. to be unsure of the unknown, or even scared of it. but if i were you id examine the reason you were scared by it. cause fear, can easily turn to loathing and hate.

why should you? just consider yourself more fortunate (and help those less fortunate the next time you come across the situation).
