I am proud to say that me and my husband will be moving to Russia next year to make out life there (I am Canadian born and he is from Moscow). We feel that Russia is going to be the strongest soon.

You idiots who are taking about Afghanistan are absolute morons. I was in Afghanistan for 1 1/2 during the war and the Americans have NO clue what they are doing. It was the Afghans that pushed the Russians out, yes thanks to weapons supplied by cowardly Americans who refuse to fight there own battles. The aren't doing any better of a job holding Afghanistan then the Russians. The Russians held it for 15 years. The Americans went in and bombed the sh*t out of Kabul. Destroying a once beautiful city and killing mainly civilians. Then they sat around in Kandahar getting their butts kicked until the Canadians got there and actually started doing something. If it wasn't for the Russians Afghanistan would be even more backwards then it is now. The Russians brought culture and education to Afghanistan. The Americans just destroy it.

Oh and I want to add that we are Christians and feel that Russia has become a far more Christian country then America claims to be.

Good thing we have something called mutually assured destruction, it kept the USSR and the USA in check through 50 years of cold war and it'll keep us in check for 50 more. You forgot india amongst our allies and last I checked, pakistan was a US ally too (or we just gave them highly advanced nuclear technological know-how for fun). Guess you forgot to take that into account in your flawed analysis.

These days, military and political influence is directly related to the strength of the economy. Countries with more money can fund bigger militaries and better equipment, it's that simple. What good are 10,000 massed soldiers if they can be wiped out by 20 guys flying jets?

If anyone is going to join the USA as a world superpower in the next 50 years, it will be China, because they're building their country with a dynastic view and their economy has been growing at a double digit rate for years now. They're also determined to become a leading technological powerhouse, and they support this with large government subsidies and grants. Even so, they still have a LONG way to go to catch america.

and..., did you just say that the US military is not the most powerful in the world?

thank you for you post yeah usa has become the only super power in the worls today. In the days of the USSR the americans did not bark like they do today. I am happy that russia is fast becoming a super power , we need a balance in the world.
I may not like the russians but i do not like the americans either.
But both the usa and the russians are needed to keep a balance in the world.
right now its USA against the whole world. all those who support the usa really are afraid of the usa.
No body outside the USA loves the americans they are just being polite or r frightened.
These things do happen when there is nobody to check on the american rats, they become pariahs.

I don't agree with people trying to shove United States down other peoples throat. And although the United States is powerful economically and militarily, I think the United States needs the support of the rest of the world and vice-versa.

Besides, Russia still seems like it's recovering from the economic crash a few years ago. If I had to decide which other nation would be a superpower, I'd say China is getting there.

I may have one better for you there are more people in China then in the United States granted they don't have the weapons that Russia and America do but there are power in numbers and if they so desire they could come over here and wipe us all out. The United States and it's people by then they can also wipe out Russia too. Russia and the United States needs to learn to stand together or they will both fall. United States is based on Freedom and Russia is based on Communism or was at one time. But until all the countries learn to get along with one another there will be no countries left. Man kind will destroy itself in time and God is going to allow it to happen. Let's learn to be peaceful with one another. Is that asking too much. WE All NEED EACH OTHER'S COUNTRY TO SURVIVE When we fight no one wins and eventually all our countries are going to fall. LOOK at the Roman Empire. BABYLON in the Bible. ATHENS, and others that I can't remember the names too. Some one else can help me out with this is there any one out there that might agree with me on this. Russia aims a missle at U.S. U.S returns the favor There goes Russia and US. Pakistan and another country does the same That's the end of those two countries. It is very important that we all learn to put our weapons down and be friends before it is too late for the entire world. Please think about it at least. God bless all our countries not all people are communist in their hearts they just have to live and abide by communist ruling. My heart goes out to these people. The United States could be the next to lose it's freedom and live like communists. This is not good for the U.S.. It has always been a free country and wouldn't survive I don't think.

Countries, populations and governments are not superpowers. I suspect the questioner has little if any influence over any organised armed forces: like the rest, of us he/she is trying to feel powerful by belonging to something big and strong. The average person in the average "superpower country" has a worse life than a free-range dairy cow. The ones who run things have names you and I will never hear. So can we, the little people, be a little nicer to eachother?

It looks like we are heading into a post-superpower period. The fall of the Soviet Union proved th fragility of the superpower concept, imo.

The age of the producers may be next, which positions China as preeminent in the world.

You are too funny!! If Russia is such a super power, why are the in such a sorry shape as a country. Americans have a right to be arrogant. When you are the best, you are entitled to bragging rights!! God Bless America!!!!!!

We don't think that we are the only superpower. What gave you that idea?

Any ideas of how America fairs against Russia were seen in Afghanistan
