a microphone is basically a more effective device for picking up sound, but a speaker will work as well. i've done this on several occasions with a computer and with a set of earphones and a boombox. the sound comes out somewhat garbled, but there is a definate voice that comes through.

yes it is possible... just make sure you connect the headphone jack into the mic jack... then speak into the headphone... i have done it so i know it works... although, i tried it with earphones (the tiny ones that fit inside your ear), not headphones.
but the question is, if you are using headphone as mic... what will you use to listen?
