Steroids and dandruff shampoos are the still the main treatments. There are more potent steroids than elocon that you could use for a brief course, e.g. clobex, or you could just use the stronger steroid on the weekends.
Three brief studies were done on the use of the excimer laser on patients with scalp psoriasis. The excimer is a laser with a wavelength similar to that of ultraviolet B, which is a well established treatment for psoriasis.

Cure psoriasis starting today - even if your doctor or dermatologist says "it's impossible!"
I've just followed a guide called psoriasis free for life that completely cured me of this debilitating and embarrassing disease in less than a month!
Remember, this will not only treat the symptoms that you do see:
the red, inflamed itchy skin.
The silvery scales that seem to erupt for no reason.
The burning or bleeding that occurs around your joints.
The cracking, oozing and painful patches on your skin.
But it also treats the underlying cause of psoriasis - the part you don't see - the actual immune system deficiency that causes these itchy patches to appear and scale over.
For more information, check here : http://Psoriasis.naturallysaver.com .
You can definitely get back your life, your confidence and your self esteem!

Neutrogena T Gel Shampoo will help some. Nothing really new ever comes up for psoriasis. I have had it for 40 years. If I get a large (800) shot of cortizone for my arthritis it goes away for at least 6 months---the cort. is not authorized for use on psoriasis but other than the shot it is the only thing that has ever worked on me.

I've used Nizarol, it will do the trick for mild infections, but you will to see your GP for a steroidal treatment if you've got chronic psoriasis. Vitamin D supplements (10µg or greater) will also help some with skin conditions. Check with your GP that this will not have an adverse affect on you. Incidentally, I found that cutting most of the saturated fats out of my diet and washing my hair only with aqueous cream has done a better job of keeping flakes under control than the medicated shampoo did, though I do have short hair. Lastly, get out in the sun as much as possible once you've got the fungal infection under control- it will further boost your vitamin d levels, improving your general health and specifically that of your skin and hair.

An ayurvedic remedy is Panchtikta Ghrutam. It is a ghee. Take about half tea spoon and apply to scalp. Daily after bath and at bedtime. Just one month and you will start noticing difference. Same ghrutam, when applied to other areas affected by psoriasis starts reducing itch and scaling.
Ghut is avaialble online at most websites dealing with herbal remedies. e.g. allayurveda.com
