Be on the top, by selling more and that can be done with effective marketing. Try educating people about your products, its advantages etc. Try to rationalize your profit margin and facilitate your customer to the maximum. Coz Customer is ur BOSS.

There are too many traits to list, but I will mention some of the most important traits:
(1) Have a selling purpose: selling success comes to those people who thinks their purpose is to help the customer and help him achieve success. Keep customer's genuine interests all the time and when you are truly passionate and concerned about customers, they will make that out. And as per universal law, success comes to people who help others achieve success.
(2) Be customer- centric: You need to be focused all the time on customer's requirements and desires and your main activity shall be to figure out what he truly wants. Don't be product centric. Knowing about your product is fine, but your enthusiasm for your product should not cloud your enthusiasm for customer and his needs and concerns. At every meeting with customer, really find out what he wants and then tailor your solution to his needs and criteria.
(3) Be above product and company: Yes, you need to be honest in your deals with customers. If you cannot offer genuine value to customers and fulfill his needs entirely, be honest and get out of sale. Or recommend some other company. Customers will begin to see you as a consultant and someone with their interest in mind and not as a manipulative pushy salesman.
(4) Ask lot of questions. Don't jump into a product presentation pitch every time you see someone remotely resembling a prospect. Even if someone shows interest in your product, ask lots of questions to know his specific situation, his needs, his criteria, his concerns, etc.
(5) Qualify effectively. Not every one can be your customers. Not everyone deserves so. You need to develop a set of criteria by which you will qualify your prospects ruthlessly.
(6) Create value. Yes, you know that. But you cannot do that unless you know what the customer wants, what the competition offers and what the biggest benefit customer is looking for when buying a product like yours. Create a value proposition before talking to any customer.
(7) Plan meticulously. There is no escape. You need to plan well in advance what you are going to do, what you are going to tell/ ask the customer, what your value proposition is, what the customers' strengths/ problems/ challenges are, what strategies you will employ, etc. Research your prospects well before you call on them.
(8) Network effectively: you need to be among people belonging to your industry. Collect testimonials from happy customers. Get referrals from happy customers, after they have enjoyed the benefits of your product.
(9) Offer great service. Go the extra mile, as they say. Be there when they need you.
(10) Keep prospecting. You need to ensure that your pipeline is full. Keep an attitude of an experimenter when you prospect. Don't be dejected if someone rejects you. They haven't. They just don't need your product at this time.
(11) Keep a positive mental attitude. This is very important. You need to believe in your abilities and have certainty that you will achieve success. Create a success vision of yourself enjoying the success you are seeking and refer to it frequently. Have you heard the story of Jim Carey carrying a self-written check for US$1Mn in his pocket always in the days before he achieved stardom? Carry your vision with you always, in your pocket and in your mind.

be happy when you sale aanything and know your stuff
think how you would want someone to sale an idem to you and what you want them to know about what you want to buy
put your self in their shoes and you be the buier.
look at what you have to sale and think
"how would i want the salesman to sale this to me"
and then sale it just the way you would if you was going to buy it your self
