depends if you OC it
my stock 4000+ ran at 27C idle and 32C fully loaded at max temps
at my max Overclock, i had it running at 2.8ghz on air with only 48C max.
they are excelent
my 3.2ghz Intel couldn't even touch 32C UNDERCLOCKED!
i currently have a FX-57 running at 3ghz on air
it maxes at 48C
and idle at 38C
its hot cuz its an FX series

You can use a program to check on that temperature. It's called speedfan and it's free. (download @ http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php ).
Mine's a AMD Laptop..running at an average of 40+ near 50 deg celcius without the laptop fan below.

It depends on the CPU model, how much CPU activity there is, and the type of cooling you have.
