Steely Dan
Linda Ronstadt

Donovan did have a lot of great songs: There Is A Mountain (which the Allman Bros covered and did an almosty 30 min version of.), Hurdy Gurdy Man (with Jeff Beck) om guitar), Wear Your Love Like Heanen (which became a jingle for a hair product), Colour My World, as well as the 2 biggies - Sunshine Superman & Mellow Yellow.

I really like Donovan, too. But I'm more familiar with his late 60's music.

Mellow Yellow is from the 60's, not 70's. Too many good ones from the 70's to list them all.

it would have to be Elton John.
the songs that he did while teaming up with Bernie Taupin are written in my heart.
with Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson, Davey Johnstone and yes, Ray Cooper. Elton came up with some of the most heart touching music of that time period.
