advantages: 90% less toxic emissions; mileage is between 45 and 50 mpg. Super quiet, because gas motor doesn't even engage until 14 miles an hour. Can drive in car pool lane even if you are alone in car. Big tax deduction for driving low emissions vehicle.
disadvantages: It costs a lot more than other cars in its class

I can't think of disadvantages of owning a Hybrid right now..
However, on the "Pros" side, fuel economy is definitely #1 for me. With gas prices on the rise, who knows what we'll be paying for gas this time next year. Yikes!! Also, I'm sure your emissions would probably be far less if your car ran semi-electrically. We do seem to be having issues with greenhouse gases lately as well...

They get twice the gas milage of the average gasoline powered car, but the batteries go bad after only a few years and cost a few grand to replace.

Advantages:
great gas mileage in city, good on highway (opposite of gasoline)
Disadvantages:
price of hybrid is much more than gasoline cars
the price of replacing the battery

more expensive to buy and running costs arent as good as makers claim. Long time before the extra cost has paid for itself as compared to small engined car
