If you can afford to support the flat, keep it...
If not, rent it out and live at your mothers...
Or get a flatmate... (male or female)..

Things seem to be tough now, and your ex girlfriend appears to have a stress free life at the moment, but in years to come you will have ironed out the little challenges that you are facing at the moment, and you will move on to better things.
You will look back and think that you got through the hardship.
If you moved back with your mother you are quitting. And sooner or later you will have to move out of your mum's house and start all over again.
The important thing to remember when making your decision is nothing in life WORTH having comes easy.
Having said all that, you could look at ways in which to share the costs of running your first home.
Don't give in to the challenge - embrace it and deal with the challenges that lie ahead, anyone can quit.
Who said that your girlfriend is living a stress free life at her mum's anyway she could be living a hell. But she would never let you know that would she? She wouldn't say "hey I made a big mistake, I hate it here, you are so lucky"
Keep on keeping on.

Living with your parents really isn't that easy, just monetarily so. Why are you so eager to sleep on a floor rather than keep the place yourself or advertise for a roommate? Imagine how much fun mum's would be when you start dating again.

If you move back in to your Mums place I think you will feel constrained and your independence will effectively be non-existant! Stay where you are and try to get a flat mate to share the bills instead.

That's life I am afraid, but there is an old saying "everything comes to he who waits". It really was better to separate now if things were not working out. I know it is hard but if you stick it out things will improve in the end and you will end up with a partner that you will be happy with and life will become easier. The best of luck.

No, stick it out mate.
Get someone in to share the bills, (make sure they can though)!
Lifes not always easy, dont give in too easy, it shows a strength of character, you'll be proud when you get yourself sorted, (so will your ex, not that it will matter though) go for it!!

Getting my own place was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me, I love it. Get a mate in to share the bills if you have a spare room.

Get one of your mates to move in. You'll have a great time and half the cost of all bills.
