I was about 4 when I pulled all of the flowers out of the flower box (roots and all) and stuffed them in the mailbox. Mom was livid. When she tracked me down, playing at the neighbor's house, she was ready to scream. Through clenched teeth, she asked me, "Why did you rip all my flowers out of my flowerbox and hide them in the mailbox?"
Shrinking back in fear, I said, "I'm sending them to Grandma."
She gave me a hug.
And then she made me help her replant them.

I must have been about seven when this happeened.
Well, we were expecting these guests and were waiting for them while there was a movie they were playing on TV. So everyone was sitting around the TV. I had to go into the kitchen for something, and there I saw a plate decorated with slices of boiled eggs all ready and steaming, naturally, put there for the guests who were to arrive shortly. Seeing the plate I couldn't resist to take one tiny slice. It was sooo tasty. Then I took another. Then another. Then several more. And then I spread them around on the plate so nobody will notice somebody's been taking out of the it. But still I wasn't satisfied. So as you can well expect, I cleaned it. And went around to the TV room and started watching TV as if nothing had happened. When the plate was soon discovered to be empty, somebody asked me if I had ate its contents, I said yes, afraid that I was going to have it. But luckily no one pursued the subject and I was forgiven.
Oh what a relief!!!

It was Obon season and I was real young. I was practicing so hard to learn the dances for that special day that when my mom tried to wake me up so that I would sleep in my room I danced all the way to the kitchen instead. Not knowing why everyone was laughing or staring at me or why I was standing in the kitchen, I went to bed.

When I was about four, my grandmother taught me to do embroidery. I made hand towels for the whole family embroidered with their names: Mom, Dad, Nana, Pop-Pop, Susie and Barbie. I wonder what ever became of those towels. I think my mother kept them, but when Mama died, Susie stored her things in her garage. When Steve died, I tried to call Susie to tell her and her phone had been disconnected. I guess that's the end of that.

Made my younger brother to put his finger in an open electric holder. Luckily, he got only minor shock and retreated. I was then 8 years old and my brother 6.

My brother and I playing with my dolls. I was eldest child out of my brother and I and he was like my doll for a little while, then when we got bigger and I could not hold him anymore, we used my dolls to play with and I taught him how to be a father. Thanks to me, this man will know how to change diapers and care for his children. Another thing, if it was not for my brother, I would have had some real sleepless nights with Goldie, my kitten, she was three weeks old when I got her and my brother was really there to help me out.

I'd go up to ladies (Grandma's friends, Mom's friends, ladies at church, whoever) and, starting at the top (hair, earrings, or makeup), complement them. I'd work my way down until I reached their shoes. At that point I'd say, "I love your shoes... can I wear them?"
