To best determine when you are going to get your period, ask your mother when she got hers, you will probably get it around the same time as her. Some women have painful cramps, and others dont.

I started when I was 13 and the older you are when you start the better. Since I started I have rarely had cramps...maybe twice a year and they are just subtle. My younger sister started when she was about 11...maybe 12 and is like my mom, she has bad cramps and nausea every month. It's really a toss up but when you get older you can try using birth control pills to keep the cramping to a minimum. Believe me it is nothing compared to having a baby, spraining your ankle or getting a deep cut. It is a natural part of growing up and becoming a woman and it happens to every woman and has since the beginning of time. Don't worry about it and use Ibuprofen if you have cramps.
We all are different but most of the women I know don't dread their period except for the inconvenience. It's not as big of a deal as you would think.

Everyone has their periods at different times in their life. Adv age to start is 9-16. Give yourself some time. You will get their soon. However, sometimes you will wish you never started. It is a time of women hood that we all like, but sometimes not enjoy some of those months.
Having a period can be different for everyone. Some have light cramps and some have unbearable cramps that require medical attention. I went on the pill at first to regulate my periods to 28 days and to also lesson the cramps.
Other than just your body doing some growing pains once in awhile (tender breast, leg cramps back aches) it isn't a big deal. Just take some midol to help lesson mood swings and aches.

Well, honey, you're perfectly normal! Depending on when your mom got her's which you said was 15, you will probably be later, like her. The period it's self doesn't hurt, but you may have some cramps, and those can be uncomfortable. you can just get a hot patch or a heating pad or something and lay down with it. You are totally normal and you have nothing to worry about.

Even though I'm not a girl I could still help you out. My sister is 18 and she started her period around 13. You may start it around 12 1/2 because that is when my cousin started hers and she just started having periods.
When my sister goes through her period, I'm guessing it hurts because she lies on the couch and moans and stuff but there are ways to make you periods lighter. Lately I haven't even noticed my sister moaning so maybe you just get used to it as you get older.
Hope that Helps!

Unfortunately only your body will decide when its best to start the period. It does not hurt to have the period only that some women experience cramps which can be mild and extremely painful to another. You should not worry thou, coz with the right diet and exercise, period will be the best experience you will have.

It's hard to say/guess when you could start. I didn't get mine til 16, my daughter got hers at 10. Alot plays into it. Even food can be a factor. Now that alot of our food has hormones in it, (from one way or another) girls are getting their periods earlier. As far as pain goes, depends on how well you tolerate pain. I've heard alot of reports that say calcium is great at alleviating period pain & symptoms
