It is the craziest thing. What is wrong with people? I've had people swear, honk, curse just because I can maneuver better than they can. It's not my fault you choose to drive a behemoth and need to take a 2nd mortgage to pay for vehicle fuel. I've even had people try to run me down. I pulled a guy out of his truck and beat the living $hit out of him for that. People forget that we motorcyclists wear body armor, helmets, gloves with imbedded steel studs, and steel toed boots. Some of us carry loaded weapons too. We can phuck you and your car up pretty bad if you think you are tough in your oversized pickup or what have you.

To those below. The guy intentionally drove his truck into my bike while I was on it with a smile on his face. He knocked me off the bike. I left the fallen bike in front of his truck in traffic, walked up to his door, kicked a dent in it, and tore off his mirror. He wasn't smiling after that. Then he got mad and opened his door. Big mistake on his part. I pulled him out and beat his *** right in front of his girlfriend sitting in the passenger seat in astonishment. Witnesses saw the whole thing and sided with me. Cops came, Detained us both. Let us both go, and I got a brand new bike from his insurance company, nicer than the one he hit. The dumba$$. See what happens when you get mixed up on the wrong side with bikers?

If I'm weaving in and out of traffic, I am NOT breaking the law.
Just because I have better mobility does not mean I am being dangerous. I may be accelerating OUT of a dangerous situation that you cannot see from your vantage point. You cage drivers will never understand until you ride a bike. We have to constantly and consciously be better drivers because our lives depend on it. I am sick and tired of cagers criticizing motorcyclists. Motorcyclists also drive cars sometimes, and we are better car drivers for it. I have NEVER wrecked a vehicle or harmed another with my vehicle and I have been riding 24 years. I know what I'm doing when I'm weaving in and out of traffic or going a little faster than the flow. I'm putting distance away from you.
You should be happy about this.

Dale P,
In that that incident I mention (11 years ago), I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt sitting in a line of traffic. Since then I have learned to white-line, dress more protectively, and be more aware of animosities from car drivers.

The guy I mention above was in a pickup truck behind me and for whatever reason he chose, used his truck to maliciously hit my bike and knock me off. Some lights before I passed him. Perhaps he was mad about that. But I watched him in my mirror with a smile on his face when he creeped up his truck and smacked my bike. I had nowhere to move being stuck behind another car in traffic. This is WHY I am a strong proponent of white-lining.

If I do carry, I do it legally. And I do not brandish it unless my life or family is seriously threatened. None of what I wrote gives bikers a bad name. It says, "Stand up from abuse by cage drivers!" You should be ashamed having ridden a motorcycle yourself and taking your attitude.

Andrew P: Shut up, dumba$$.

My inner demon quite enjoyed your story! As a Libra, I love it when justice is done.

It's the same as when you see someone in a car weaving around traffic and going fast. Jealousy. They wish they could be doing that, and it sets off that little road rage gene we all have.

With an attitude like that...no wonder they try to run you down. Real tough guy, huh? Probably get your rocks off breaking people mirrors.

Those who ride bikes as if they had half a brain don't get into trouble. When you're splitting lanes at 50 mph while the traffic is slowed to 35, a driver can look in second and see everything clear, then suddenly a bike is flying past. Bikes are also easily hidden by normal blind spots.

I really doubt people are doing those things if you were riding sensibly. You're probably one of those idiots I see weaving in and out of cars at 20-30 mph faster than the rest of the traffic. When your time comes to get whacked by a car or truck, all that crap you wear isn't going to help a bit.

Dr Evil...You had my attention to a valid concern for those in general who ride bikes in traffic until you started in with the low life version of a biker with the threats of kicking A_s and weapons. Right then you put yourself in the negative catagory of bikers who give legitimate riders a bad name. If that's the mentality you have when it comes to dealing with this issue, then you lost me and any sympathy in your particular case. You put yourself in the same class as the guy you claim ran you down.

I have ridden bikes on many occasions, including traffic, with the assumption a driver isn't going to see me. It's foolish to expect them to know you're there, especially when you're moving a lot faster. What can piss drivers off is when they're maintaining a safe distance from the car ahead and suddenly a bike is 4' off their bumper or blasts across without them expecting it. I have no problem if they're splitting lanes or changing lanes at a speed where I can anticipate or they indicate what they're doing. When I know they're coming, I'll even move over a little and give them more room. It is the law that lane changes are suppose to be indicated by arm or turn signal before making the move so others know what you're doing. It's not jealousy, because drivers don't mind the legitimate riders. It's tense enough being in traffic without getting startled by some jerk making it their personal slalom course.

Dr E

I'm very proud of the fact our attitudes don't match. Just because we ride bikes doesn't make us brothers. I have more important things in life than riding. It doesn't define who I am. You just seem to be the biker version of road rage.

Your agility on the bike frightens others on the road. And the fact that you wear all the armor you described doesn't really help if you get hit by some giant tank going 70 mph. Their first thought is probably that they could have hit/hurt you and that they would have to pay for it if they got caught! That wouldnt be as big a problem if they'd just put down their cell phones and pay attention to the road! Enjoy your bike, but try to be courteous...I don't think that includes anything that involves "loaded weapons". But screaming and swearing is always helpful!

Because The Man gotta bring us bikers down, yo! Yeah, they all jealous 'cause we got wheels that are far superior to theirs in coolness. That, and we get the leather jackets and jeans that make us look cooler, while they're all stuck with suits and ties that say " Look at me, I'm an office lemming! " so they gotta feel better about themselves by making sure we don't get any advantages just because we decided to be different from society and go on 2 wheels instead of 4. I swear man, it's a conspiracy!

It's because you're not following the rules of the road, and your actions are dangerous.

No one wants to be in an accident, even if they (the person in the car) is going to come out fine. It's all that paperwork they don't want to deal with while the cops are scraping whatever is left of your hide off the road.

It's pretty obvious that you have anger management issues.

I just traded my Chevy Xcab z71 with lift kit for car b/c of gas. I'd ride a bike if I didn't have kids to transport. It's jealousy, but it shouldn't be taken that far.

I suppose you need to substitute something for the lack of natural power between your legs!!

I aint got a thing about motorbikes, I prefer the safety of my metal box and have no intention of switching!

oh, and cars can carry bigger (and less obvious) weapons, in fact they ARE bigger weapons!!

Drive safe now.

I don't get mad but envy your your freedom. Used to be a biker myself.

I do worry that I may make a mistake, not see you and push you off your bike though.
