In the past, i've used laundry powder. Just mix a little into some warm water, and gently scrub them, using a toothbrush, to get into the plastic formwork. On the leather parts, i'd use a saddle wax, as opposed to saddle soap. I used saddle soap, on my first set of Alpinestars, and it made the leather really soft. They felt great, but lost their effectiveness, in the ankle strength.

saddle soap for leather --you can get it at any grocery store, or walmart, or shoe store (it is next to the shoe polish)
