Excellent point. People get to attached to one point of view. They fall in love with their "team" and want to defend it regardless of facts. In short, they love their side and/or hate the other side more than they love the truth.
It's a very human fault....We believe what we want to believe. We decide what we want to believe and then look for evidence to support our belief, and discount evidence to the contrary.
It's hard to be objective. To be objective you have to first look at the evidence and then form an opinion....the opposite of our nature. It take conscious effort at first, but it can be done sometimes.

Sadly no. A lot of people will base their decisions or judgment based on preconceived notions, and sometimes refuse to look at the "other side of the argument". While it's not true for everyone, a lot of people seem to follow that trend, which is why sometimes they look like idiots if what they're blindly supporting turns out to be something not the way they expected.

Ideologues, whether they be liberal, conservative, libertarian, or of any other persuasion are by defintion incapable of viewing their world through anything other than the often distorted prism of their ideology of choice. Real thinkers, on the other hand, look at every issue individually and make judgements based on practicality and such intangibles as a personal sense of right and wrong.
