Well its not actually true people gets dreams bout some particular thing as you said if you dream about falling out from a couch and if it really happens after you wake up you will get a shock and if people cant handle that shock thats for those people who have weak hearts they might die .. it happened in london a old man got unconsious after he woke up from his sleep later on he revealed that he dreamt of waking up and the time was 4 am and when he woke up after that dream it really was 4 am ! that shock was really big for him .. so he got unconsious ... it can happen depends upon people .. and its a tradition thing i hope your mother must know why ..

Well, now...if the person who fell off the couch died, how would we know that they'd had a dream about falling off the couch in the first place? Seems to me they wouldn't have much opportunity to tell you about it would they?
Not to mention it'd be a little hard for a normal human being (I'm not talking about a tiny baby hear) to die falling all of a foot or two to the floor.
That's just nonsense.

No. Your mom is pulling your leg - I hope she doesn't really believe this!
Most dreams involving falling (off a building, etc) are interpreted literally to mean that you feel you're not being emotionally supported. This doesn't mean that you're not being supported, only that you feel you are not, or you are afraid that you're not.
You could dream of falling off the couch, then wake up and really fall off, and probably the worst thing that would happen is that you would give yourself a severe panic attack. You are probably too young for a heart attack.

There are many of these Old wives tales still floating around the truth of the matter is that when you dream it is your subconscious working since your brain never sleeps. However it is possible for and individual to dream themselves into a heart attack if they already have a preexisting heart condition. The dream puts so much emotional stress on the individual that they have artery constriction and the constriction causes a decrease in blood flow to the heart muscle and it begins to die and as this continues to worsen until the heart stops. Hope that helps. reaper out..............

I have never heard of such a thing. But I am curious to know, if you did dream about falling off the couch, and then you woke up and actually fell off, how will you be dying? Death by couch? ... That's what I'd like to know...

Don't believe everything. I dreamed the same thing. And fell asleep on the couch after swimming. And fell off. I am still writing yes?
Or no....wait, I have taken over some poor defenseless being with my unsettled spirit. Muah hahahahaha!
But seriously, no. No its not true.

Unless you have an insanely large couch...No. Anything is possible, especially if you hit your head hard enough, but I highly doubt many people have died falling off a couch!

You're not gonna die! Don't worry. I think your dream actually comes after the fall, it's your subcounscious that perceives the physical impact, but not your conscious mind, that's why you don't realize that you've fallen off and keep on sleeping.
