It's not what the other girls think...
alot of it depends on how comfortable the coaching staff is with you on the team.
In the league I coach for...we have a ladies league ...all female. But, sometimes they want to practice with us.
Most of the practice is fine...but when it comes to hitting...and tackling...theres an incongruence of size and strength...
I just can't let them go up against the guys...it's not good practice for the men...and it doesn't teach the women anything but how to get smashed...and they'll never get hit like that in the ladies league...so I make them go up against each other.
next to that comes the liability aspect...do I - as a coach - want to be liable for the injury one of these ladies sustains practicing against her larger, male counterpart.
So I would suggest asking the coach how he felt - not the world view...if coach says cool...Go get some...and have a great time!

When I played at Rogers High School back in the 80s, there was a girl that played on the varsity team for Sparta High. I forget her name. She played though. I don't mean wore a uniform, I mean she got gametime. She wasn't that much better than anyone else on the team, but then the whole team was mediocre at best.
What I will say is that a lot of guys hit her hard, on purpose. She was the 2nd string running back for the Spartans, and she got her butt handed to her every time she got the ball. It was as if the guys on her team didn't want her there, so they wouldn't block for her at all.
Plus the Defense... oh man, we had a couple guys that would go out of their way to just wail on her. I dunno why, maybe try to tell her that she didn't belong there. This was, after all, the 80s. We weren't as progressive as a society as we are now.
Huffman broke her finger and her nose in the course of 2 plays... And he got patted on the back by most of our team for it.
She was tough though, even with that she stayed in the game, until somehow her shoulder got dislocated.
If you're thinking about playing football, and you have the talent to do it, then by all means, give it a try. Just be forewarned that teenage guys will see it as a chance to don their machismo and get the message thru to you that football is a man's sport.
Whether it is or not, many feel that way.
Good luck to you. Hope your folks have good health insurance. You play football, chances are you'll need it.

If you want to, you should try, though your success is probably going to have to do a lot with what position you play. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you'd be big enough for anything other than kicker or punter, but women have kicked and punted successfully at the collegiate level, and, so far as I know, there isn't much reason why a woman couldn't be successful, even among stronger and faster men(and they almost always are going to be, given that needing to give birth makes a woman's pelvis wider and makes movement less efficient, as well as less body mass to convert to muscle). In any case...I myself think a WNFL would be great.....

I honestly didn't know girls could go out for a football team. Cool! Yea, go for it! If it's allowed (if it's not the coach is a sexist jerk) then yea!

sure, why not? All I have to say is if you make the team you may get some serious media coverage, so be prepared. Good Luck!

Dominating the girls will get you better ink and karma than being mediocre or even good with the boys.
