Staying ahead of the competition is a reasonable goal, but you can outdistance the opposition more easily by understanding modern management practices, manufacturing trends, where to open new markets and how to reach your customers. You need access to business directories, small business loan information and the critical research data for your specialized field.
Meanwhile, you're responsible for paying and protecting employees, knowing the laws in your state and municipality, handling tax payments and hiring new employees when you're ready to grow.
