how would you consider a person clinically dead? when the heart stop beating or when the brain stop functioning?

You are asking a double question...

1) life begins at conception, "it is the very beginning"
2) to be clinically dead would be no brain function, although modern medicine can keep the body functioning for a long time.

From a lot of research from well known science websites, I'd have to say the the brain starts functioning at Brain-Day, and the heart start pumping at Heart-Day. In more advanced societies, these two days brings big parties.

Life Begins At about 185 MPH........both the heart gets going..AND the brain had better be functioning.........or you will know More than clinically dead...

life's basic processes are irritability, reproduction , growth and metabolism. The brain regulates these processes so life itself starts when the brain initially functions.

Lack of brain (cortex) function- you cannot put that on a life support machine and make it work.
