I have many of those books, my daughter even has a Teen one, she likes it alot. Turns 13 next month. Brothers are 10,9 I was hoping the boys would be into it like her. But I'm holding back on buying them one.

I think women do because they tend to have a more sensitive and heart-filled side. They are usually the ones that get into it. Sort of like romance movies or called by men, "chick flicks". I know some boys who like them though. If they have somewhat of a soft side to them, I would maybe get it. You never know.

I have always read a lot and read pretty much any books in any genre. If you liked 5 People You Meet In Heaven, try The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I am always fairly skeptical of the books EVERYBODY reads but that book was honestly very touching and told from an interesting view. If you like sarcastic characters like Holden Caulfield, try Beach Music by Pat Conroy. It is a long book, but worth it. Jack McCall is one of the most sarcastic, insteresting characters I have ever read. Not knowing your age and going off of the fact that you say you are eccentric, pick up any book by Christopher Moore--his books are absolutely hysterical, lovely, insightful and deal with the absurd. His newest book is A Dirty Job and I would suggest you start with that.

girls are more open to help then boys, especially if her friends are reading the books or if she heard it was a great book. I read chicken soup for the teenage soul myself. I am sure that the boys haven't heard about the book from their friends, their friends wouldnt tell them anyways, i think its embarrasing for them to read self help books and stuff like that. and I am sure that they don't just hear about great books like girls do. The best you can do is just ask if they want the book before you go out and buy it. and for them they would need checking soup for the preteen soul. i loved them also. I hope I helped!

Females are more intune to the sensitivity of these books, boys act like they don't care so they put up the mocho act. Females imbrace the stories more and try to learn from them.

girls are more sensitive to the stories. i dont know if your boys are at the age where they cant see it or are too proud to, but id say buying one to start with would b great! you should talk to them a bit too, but those books pretty much do the talking. good choice mom!

the boys will definitly not like it. i would get them one of those japanese comic books that are read backwards. i dont know exactly what they are called but if you go to a book store and explain it like that, they'll know exactly what your talking about.

i think women read them more, maybe cause we like reading other peoples' experiences, and we are more sensative.
