I also want to post video of my family and links and pdf format copies of my professional documents. Is a free website with all these capabilities available? What are the best, most reliable free websites? I have little to no html knowledge.

hey if you want everything in one place then u can do one thing go can create a website with free hosting site which allow u to upload all your files.
free hosting sites are geocities.com(in this u can design the site with an ease with all the facilities available with ontrol panel),275mb.com,esmartweb.com.
Or u can post certain things on certain site like resume on jobsites,photos on flickr.com.

for your CV, it would be best to post them on something like monster.com .. for photos, how about flikr or probably blogspot.com
