I would cut the ignition, and since it is in gear it will slow down with the assistance of the brake until it is safe. The engine will continue to run until stopped, but will slow down as the bike slows down. Sometimes at the right speed, you can pop it into neutral without the clutch. If you are an experienced rider, you will feel with your foot, when it can pop into neutral without grinding the transmission. If you have to exert any pressure, do not shift.

well, it is a tuff question I had mine break on me last year, I was doing 45mph I just rode my bike the rest of the way home (2 miles) and when i got there turned the key off and used the brake to help me stop. plus, on older bikes, it is not hard to shift them into a nother gear without using the clutch.

Reduce throttle, apply brakes, stall bike, coast to stop, call freind with truck. load bike, buy new cable, install, go riding.
