I have cable modem, so my IP address is always the same. I've been blocked from a site which I really like and need to change my IP address to get back in.

I remember I changed it before - I released my IP address and unplugged my modem for two weeks. When I turned it back on, my IP was different.
I really don't want to wait 2 weeks again.

Is there an eaiser way to change it? Thanks

Yes, if you're running windows XP - go to your network connections, right click on your connection and there is an option for release and renew IP address. If your cable provider is using dynamic IP addresses, then this will automatically give you a new IP address. If you had a new IP when you unplugged, it had nothing to do with you unplugging your modem. You waited 2 weeks for nothing. Just release and renew your IP it sounds like you have a dynamic IP address and this should fix the problem.

You can type
IPCONFIG /release in the command window, and then try IPCONFIG /renew. When it's released, it goes back into the pool of IP addresses. It may or may not get picked up by another pc. If it doesn't, you'll get the same one back. Wait an hour maybe after you release it and then renew it.

There's always the question of what the site will do when they discover you're making an end run around their block of you. Remember, the fact that you're blocked means that although *you* want to be there, they certainly don't want you there.

You might want to find out if there's a way to get back in their good graces first, so you don't make things worse by escalating the issue.

unplug your modem for a minimum of 60 seconds, plug it back in.

this will cause your modem to "re-auth" and you will obtain a new IP address
