I've been on the pill for 2 1/2 years now (mainly because my periods were really irregular.) And up until about a year ago, I just stopped having an actual period. The week I'm supposed to have it, it will just be "spotting" (brown stuff) for a few days and that's it. I went to the OBGYN a few months ago and he didn't really say anything was wrong but it's been a YEAR! What's going on?!

Some birth controls can cause that as a side effect. The reason being most BC works through releasing a horomone into your body that basically tells your body your already pergnant, therefore it doesn't release an egg hense making it much harder to get pregnant. Sometimes your body reacts that way. The problem with BC is it is messing with one of the most complciated systems in the world, that being the female reproductive system so all women will react a little differently. If your OBGYN didn't tell you anything that would explain it he is not very good. Im not saying he is wrong nothing may be wrong but it is our job as medical professionals to make sure our patients are comfortable with their treatment perhaps seek a second opinion to ensure everything is fine. Good luck and i hope everything works out for you.

You need to see an ob/gyn who will work to keep you informed of any conditions that might be an issue and to also go over the side effects for your particular Rx. He could also inform you of other types of birth control to consider if you cannot live with the side effects of your current method.
I personally go through the same, but was told I have polycistic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS.
You could go to Web MD, and research possible causes for your symptoms and discuss any questions with or inquiries with your Dr. at your next appt.

Go back to your OBGYN and find out. Ask questions, like you doing now.
