I live in australia and i am wondering what the best way is to protect my assets agains divorce - i am already married and we dont have a prenup. I am considering leaving my wife - we have tried everything and its not good.

If you obtained the assets during the marriage, you can't protect them, half of them belong to her. If you had them prior and have been married less than five years, you may have a chance of coming out of the divorce with them. If you are worried, before you file for divorce, sign over some of your assets to relatives or friends. Key word was "SOME" of your assets. If you do them all or almost all of them, it's a red flag for the court system. Not a nice thing to do, but I've seen it done many times.

Well as dishonest as what you are doing is ...
If you got something after you are married, it is half hers, and there's nothing you can do about it.
If you're looking to hide something from her, the only thing you can do is to transfer it to a friend--who needs to give it back after your divorce is final.
