Water the sod! I'd water it every day for the first two weeks. If you have it on a timer, let the timer run, but you have got to provide it the moisture it needs so the roots will grow long. Also apply some potassium to help root growth.
Plugs are sod pieces broken up into smaller pieces. Sprigs are even smaller, usually what golf courses use to plant greens (not usually associated with St. Aug, only bermuda). I have never heard of a plat, but a pallet is what the sod comes on (a pallet is a lot of sod). A pallet of sod can cover roughly 400 sq ft. (st. Augustine).

Keep it damp until it has established a root system. Once it starts filling in, try cutting the rhyzomes, it will propogate new growth. Also, leave your clippings from mowing on the grass to provide nitrogen and carbon to ensure green grass and health,
