I think this is a big problem. People are too straightforward. They defend themselves by saying they are "real". What kids are learning on reality TV is cussing out people that you don't agree with... I say "SUCK IT UP and learn some manners!". It takes a bigger person to withstand the urge to argue with someone than to just become enraged.

Yeah, I look at these people and can't believe how rude they are sometimes! And this teaches kids that it is fun to be rude and nasty. That the world is rough and a bad place, but that isn't how it has to be!!!!!!
My dad said something once to me. He said that rescuing cats was like trying to solve world hunger. Why try, there will always be hungry people.
And I thought, well, this attitude is 'why' there are problems in the world. If you have a negative, selfish outlook on things and only care about yourself, the world can't change.
We can be better. We can have fun watching things that aren't mean to other people. I don't like the battle of who can be meanest on reality TV......... :(

fat chance mate.
just to clarify, there's no such thing as "reality tv". when people are fully aware that they are being subjected to observation and scrutiny, the environment/setting is disturbed, and behaviours are altered...and that's not real
has reality tv killed all semblance of manners? beats me. children's minds are like sponges, so they tend to imitate what they see on the tellie. as for adults, well, we have already developed our own sets of values over the years, and are maybe less likely to be influenced by media.
i reckon the environment has also a major impact on people's behaviours, i mean, we can all protect our children from watching these reality tv , or any violent programmes on the tv in our homes. but who or what will protect them when they go outside?

human nature, you can't fixed the rule when and where to be polite and be natural. People are like chameleon, it change color in new places, the same with people's attitude. That is why there is a say that " never judge a person by its look'. For children, it is the parents responsible to nurture them to be a good person by communicating and explaination and parents has to set a good example also!

Why do you waste your time watching that crap? How about taking a class or volunteering at a nursing home instead? Read a book? Learn a musical instrument? Join a hiking or nature club? TV is the pimple of society for people who don't want to get a life...Volunteer at a hospital> The people there NEED you!

I would rather have people be real than fake and polite. So if they can't be real and polite, I'll take the rude ones. I think I need to go to bed now cuz I'm having trouble making a point. Good night.

its the parents job 2 install manners in their children, i dont see it as a big deal. i infact teach my son 2 say whats on his mind and i dont make him use his manners if he feels strongly about something. and i would rather him b known as real than fake, and i want him 2 feel he is able 2 express himself in any way he feels, not the polite way.

I think you are right. Whatever happened to good manners? It is awful. I need to hear all your biz when you are talking on the cell. And when you are on the cell and you start talking to someone else? Drives me crazy. What about table manners? Oh, and don't get me started on screaming children.

It's adult's responsibility to teach children manners. You can't blame TV for everything.
