ok my last question stated that my ps2 had trouble reading dvd's and ps2 games. update: the disk spinner thing spins about a quarter turn then gives up. it does this with any disk, ps2 games, ps1 games, dvd's, and whatever else ps2 can read. i've opened it, cleaned the dust out, and watched the disk spinner with the second black cover still in place. the spinner begins spinning, then about a millisecond later it gives up giving me less than a quarter spin.

Hmmm, think it has already worn out, I mean, the optic mechanism; you'd better replace them with a new one

If you still have that huge PS2 good luck because I chucked mines and got a flat one within a year.

Might be because the scanner eye is jammed. Take it to the nearest shop and see what can the repairman do.
