It refers to the preamble and other wordings of the law used for interpretation. It is an aid of "interpreting the law" and is stronger in the court of justice than extrinsic aids referring to legislative intention, circumstances why the law was made, etc.

Intrinsic aid of laws means that the law will provide for the other evidence being introduced in a case. The interpretation of the law will add into the thing or document.

An examination of the whole of a statute, or at least those Parts which deal with the subject matter of the provision to be interpreted, should give some indication of the overall purpose of the legislation. It may show that a particular interpretation of that provision will lead to absurdity when taken with another section.
