Personally I think it is the fact that they are playing as a team.

There are NO Huge Egos on this team. They are all good.

I would agree with your point as being the strongest aspect as relates to the morale. But as the overall proponent for their success has to be the coaching. Leyland is a mastermind.

P.S.- Don't forget about the Dombrowski making all the right decisions in the front office too.

The Tigers this year remind me of the 2004 Red Sox (Post trade deadline). They just keep winning and somebody different steps up every time to be the "hero". From Verlander to Ordonez they've got a great combination of youth, experience, and enough vigor to keep going through the year.
I admit that in June I picked the Tigers to fall apart by now, I just don't see it happening.
Strongest part of the Tigers??? Right now it looks like their attitude.

They have many great players, a great manager, and yes they are definitely playing as a team.

All that being said, there is one clear, undeniable answer to your question:

Pudge.

And to all the people who say it is pitching, or a particular pitcher --- Pudge handles pitchers better than any catcher in MLB and all of those young pitchers wouldn't be doing nearly as good as they are without him. Plus he's a leader, a great hitter and has a cannon for an arm.

I really don't think it's their pitching alone. It's a team effort and they just are playing every aspect of the game. You usually see teams will either have the offense and be missing the defense or have the best defense and are missing the offense. Tigers have the defense and the offense.

I think that there success has to be credited to there manager Jim Leyland and they play as a team they get clutch hits to score runs and when there ahead the bullpen keeps the other team from scoring little to no runs

My opinion is their pitching. Verlander, the rookie, is having a year that veterans usually have, Zumaya is on fire in relief, and even with the high era, Todd Jones is having a good year.

I would have to say that it is not having Ozzie Gullien as their manager...It is team chemistry way different from that of the Yankees in the way that the Yankees team chemistry is HGH (Human Growth Hormones) (Steroids)
