No, but it flavors the milk. Research has shown that babies nurse *more* when the mother eats garlic, not less as some old wive's tales would have it. (See first URL in sources section below.) Garlic is *not* a good source of vitamin C, either. You'd have to eat a cup and a half of *raw* garlic (cooking destroys it) to get the amount in 1 orange. I suspect that's not very likely to happen.
In general, you don't have to avoid *any* vegetables. They don't give your baby gas. It's the *fiber* in some foods that makes an adult gassy, and it doesn't pass through your milk. If you don't believe me, then pump a little and look for solid pieces.
Garlic is also antibiotic. Not only can't it give you any infections (scientists have determined that they are caused by *germs*, not food), it can treat them! (See second URL below.)

NO
Garlic has no effect on supply.
Some babies will nurse more if you eat garlic because they like the way the milk tastes.
Others may get gas from it.
It is NOT typically considered a food to avoid.

In the early days, you would want to avoid strong foods and spices like garlic, curry, and onion because they would definitely come through the taste of the milk. Even "B" vitamins can be a problem. In a few months you can eat most anything and the baby won't mind at all. Even pizza.

Absolutely Not. I'm 100% nursing and I love garlic. No problems with my supply at all, although it can make the baby gassy

it can change the taste depending on how much you consume but garlic increases you b.o. ( body odor ) and can cause infections. so watch out with how much you consume its better to use less or i you just want the taste then use a garlic powder.

No, but it can change the flavor of your milk and cause fussiness. Here's a site that the advice nurse shared with me.

No, but it may change the taste of your breastmilk if you consume a large quantity. Some babies may refuse the breast as a result.
