Brands that I prefer for quality:

Sony
Fujifilm
TDK
Verbatim -especially for Double Layer (DL)

Most opinions you will hear (such as mine) are not based on any kind of formal testing. I haven't had problems with any brand yet, but in terms of durability and packaging, those seem to be the best for me.

Another brand that's not often referred to is Nexxtech. It's sold at Circuit City and at first, I thought it was just a generic house brand. However, one of my DVD players is an older Sony from 2000. It has a hell of a time reading burned DVDs, and can't read many brands (+ or -). But it has no trouble at all with Nexxtech. At regular price, it's not much of a deal compared to bigger name brands. Sometimes though, you can find a 25-pack for as cheap as $8. It's a great deal!

i take advantage of Memorex. they are at Radio Shack. have faith it or not, burned at 6x and on no account had a issue. i might desire to probable burn two times as quickly, in spite of the shown fact that it would desire to be Piece-O-****-O-Media, the key is burning sluggish. in case you gotta burn at 4x or 2x for it to be top, your style sucks. I used to alter between 6x and 8x counting on what proportion i grew to become into doing at one time, yet 6x is large. Taiyo Yuden unlabeled are the appropriate. they are able to be got here across on line, you basically might desire to Google it. just to repeat... Memorex is what i offered a -LOT- of, and am approximately to purchase a -LOT- of returned because of the fact they are in Radio Shack and the value is large, and that i on no account had a issue.
