I mean come one. Kope cheats on his wife but he scores 80 points or so and all is right. People are using drugs in sports and people still fill the stadiums but Mel does a drunken thing and it's a no no.

Our society is full of whiny, liberal cry babies that are offended by every damn thing they disagree with. I don't agree with what Mel said, but he was drunk. He grew up with an anti-semitic father. I don't think it's a surprise, even to Mel, that those thoughts are there...implanted by his parental figure. BUT when he's sober and thinking clearly, he isn't out rallying against Jews, because he logically knows that would be wrong.

What really irritates me, is the fact that here in the "United States of the Offended" We are completely ignoring the fact that this man was DRUNK...driving a car over 80mph...putting people's lives in physical danger. Why don't we stop worrying so much about WORDS and focus on the laws that he broke and the lives that he endangered (including his own)!

Because Kobe or Kate Moss or Barry Bonds didn't have the audacity to make a movie about Jesus Christ. As soon as Mel did that, he put the public's expectations of his behavior on a higher level. It's true that we all make mistakes, but celebrities have to realize that they are not like everyday people. They are watched constantly and some are even looked up to. So when they do something stupid like Mel did, they fall hard. It's that simple.

He was highly respected until he took a shot at the Jewish community. I'm not Jewish but I would be offended if he had made comments about my religion. People expect MAD T.V. or Jay Leno to make comments like that but when it is out of character like what Mel Gibson said I think he has lost alot of supporters and he has already lost contracts for movies because of it.

the cop caught mel in time.what if the cop didn't pull him over and he ended up in a car accident, possibly injuring/killing himself or innocent people! drunk driving is able to cause physical harm to the drunken person and/or someone else.i didn't think it was alright for kobe either.he caused emotion damage and apologized and his wife only accepted his apology because he bought her a 3 million dollar diamond ring to make her stay in the relationship.he also helped her family financially.she's supporting kobe's money;) athletes using drugs is another form of cheating but it mainly harms the drug user, not anyone else.as much as this controversy is giving mel a bad rep,now i'm rather more interested in watching his upcoming productions,a tv special called the "Halocaust" & "Apocalypto" i think he was rehearsing lines from the "Halocaust",so technically, when he was drunk, something weird happened and he started portraying a character.it doesn't excuse his irrational behavior.mel has many alter-egos.some are charming, some are kinda psychotic^__^

Mel Gibson's words revealed that the Passion of the Christ was intended as a blood libel against the jews. Not only is it very bad timing with every liberal in our country essentially being exposed as nazi scum, but most christians are enraged that he would use our religion toward such a sinister end. This is especially bad since we gave him the benefit of the doubt of simply being a devout man. Now, he pulls this shi t. I want his head on a pike as a warning to others.

People like to turn little things into big deals and forget about them a month after. They are hypocrites who like to follow the lives of movie stars and point out every little flaw they do because they have no lives. But when it comes to their lives and when they commit a flaw "everyone's not perfect you know". They think movie stars are not human and should be perfect and when they see them mess up they like to crucify them.

It's a religious thing, they expect more from people who have faith in God. They think they are hypoccrites when they do something that shows they are human. That's why religion is a "practice", because no one is perfect!
