not as bad as cats... lol... but actually if you keep its cage clean then actually you can't even tell they are there... they need baths every once in a while also, just like every other creature on earth, or yes, they may stink.

Boy are they ever stinky! You have to constantly keep their cage cleaned because all they do is sit and eat and pee and poop, and sit and eat and pee and poop, and so on and so on and so on......................................................P.S. They don't move out of their (mess) like other animals, (rodents) do, they sit in it and eat in it, till it piles up around them, then their bellies are smelly and wet from their urine! Even though they are messy, I loved my little guinea pigs! When I was about 12, I had a black guinea pig named Sam who some how escaped from his cage, we looked all over the house but never found him, then about a month later, running down our driveway with a small apple in his mouth was my Sam! I ran outside just in time to see him go under our front porch! We never could catch him again so we just had to let him go. We would put some of his favorite foods out for him and it would always disappear but we never saw him again until one day come the next spring. There he was again with a chunk of something in his mouth running down our driveway and back under our porch! I don't know where he was that last winter, but he would show himself now and then till after about two years, then we never saw him again!

its not that THEY have an odor as much as its the bedding in their cage.
if not cleaned out once a week, yes it can get VERY stinky! esp. the pine or cedar bedding. which is horrible for their little lungs anyways.( i wouldn't use that crap, i have used an organic paper bedding you can find at any good pet store).

All animals have odor. I would suggest you talk to the person who you are buying it from. If you are not buying from a store. I would suggest you buy a book or even look online..

No, they don't smell if you take care of them. If they have a bedding of cedar chips, which they sell at the pet store, they will smell fine. They are great pets!

They are not really that friendly. Get a pet rat, they are much more fun and easy to train.

You have to clean their cage quite often. Anything that walks around on its' own pee and poop is going to smell.
