Can't you dumb people look at a map!! Latin America is not just made up of Mexico!!!!!! So are you one of those dumb people who don't know any better?

That's what I hear, even my parents make those statements and I hate it but I don't say anything because they are my parents even though I'm old enough to stand up.

I agree and I don't think we should call those people "ignorant" they just generalize groups of people :)

and Tom above is right, also I sometimes say, "Look at that Chinese guy" even though they might not be Chinese.

The big families. I know the Mexicans love to have big families, but come on. We live in the 21st Century. Who can afford to have that many children? I surely cannot. Another thing, the Tweety Birds everywhere, being gansters, and being like everyone else. I know that not all Latinos are Mexican. My friend, Itzel, is of Nicaraguan parents and was born in Costa Rica. Another friend of mine was born in Puerto Rico. I know that the Latinos of this world can think for themselves. I have nothing against Latinos, but Mexicans, who are part of the Latino group, I know can think for themselves, so why don't they? Change your image and get rid of the stereotypes.

well.. thats just 'americans' for you ..

thats the one thing the world dislikes about the US.. their lack of knowledge of worldly things..

i'm Brazilian .. and when i was younger .. in school.. i use to get annoyed by the fact someone would call me mexican.. or they would ask 'what are you' instead of .. 'whats your heiritage' now if someone honestly doesn't know any better... i take the time to explain to them. unless they are just being rude.. but i really haven't had any problems years.. living in New Orleans that is..

one impression some people get about Brazilians is that.. we are all dark complected.. or all black.. which is the exact opposite..
they look just like everyone in the US.. blonde hair.. red hair ... brown hair.. blue eyes..

u'd think more people would know better.. i mean come on.. theres over 40 latin countries ..

but eh.. whatever

I completely agree with you! I am Central American, and one of my friends whom I have been friends with for two years, still doesn't understand that I am not Mexican. The way to deal with it is to just let it go, and be happy that you have a much more elevated sense of culture and geography and origin than they do. And know that there are people out here that understand what you are going through (me)!! =)

I don't know if it's a stereotype or just an unfortunate fashion choice, but those eyebrows shaped like the golden arches and drawn on with sharpies is making us look baaad

I accidentally called a friend of mine Mexican and she put her hand on her hip and pointed her finger at me and said, Hey...Hispanic. I said oh sorry, hispanic then. It was hilarious.

I say don't take it as an insult since most people can't tell the difference.
