To me, the best gift is something that the person you're giving to wouldn't by herself. Example: my hubby bought me the most gorgeous earrings, I love them, but I never would have splurged and bought that type for myself. Something useful is always good. Shoes? Clothes? Depends on what she likes. Maybe a DVD or even a stuffed critter???

i'd go for a book you think she'd like
or a movie
candles are usually good
jewelery(although that may be too boyfriendy)
or things related to her hobby--does she collect anything? and which b-day, like you can get 16 or 17 year olds nice car accessories and stuff like that

nice pair of earring or a bracelet. Good, brand name jewrely is expensive, but you can find something nice for a cheap price.
