A comma splice is kind of the right answer. If you just put it in the wrong place then it is a mistake, but if you use it to connect two sentences instead of a semicolon or starting a new sentence then it is a coma splice.

Mistake:
The dog went, to the park and peed on the tree.

Splice:
The dog went to the park and peed on the tree, he really had to go and couldn't wait to find a hydrant.

See, "he really had to go and couldn't wait to find a hydrant" should be a separate sentence or replace the comma with a semicolon.

It is called a comma splice or a comma fault. A comma fault occurs when it is placed between two clauses without a conjunction. Example: I just ate dinner an hour ago, I am not hungry.

This could be written: I just ate dinner an hour ago; I am not hungry.

Or: I just ate dinner an hour ago. I am not hungry.

Or: I just ate dinner an hour ago that is why I am not hungry.

Or: I just ate dinner an hour ago, therefore, I am not hungry.
