I think that America's reputation has been damaged soley because we are the only big guy. During the cold war, everyone hated Russia and loved us. After the fall of communism, there was no "bad guy" and we were the only big guy. Therefore people don't like us anymore.
THe opponents we face now are very different. They are not nationals, so they don't care if we take them out. They fight from non national bases instead of from their own country, so it is a very different front.
However as contradictory as it may appear, I believe Reagan's way was the best. Make us very strong so no one will even try to mess with us.

By finding the roots of conflicts and solving problems in a wise way, respecting other nations, caring about democracy and human rights honestly not just as an excuse and with double standards, acting as a brother not a master, understanding other cultures and differences, recognising gray ( everything is not black or white), accepting mistakes and ask for forgiveness, paying attention to internal problems specially economy and minorities, education and health care, spending huge military expenses for aforesaid problems and for helping poor countries

It is virtually impossible, unless the USA gives unlimited handouts to the world (we already do to a certain extent).
People always hate those that do the best. Whether you're first in your high school class (you always cheated, it is said), you make alot of money (as liberals put it, you're evil (unless you're a democrat)).
People always despise good, power, and they love to covet. As we can see by South America, they blame the USA for everything bad in their countries (totally irrational and absurd.)
Popularity is not always great. Peace is very popular, war is not. However, when you face a threat like we face, if you're only for peace, you will soon find yourself with a Burkha on, your knees on a prayer rug, and a Koran forced into your hand. Liberals are in denial. They don't think that the Muslims would force religion and tyranny on them like they do in their own countries and in Darfur, Ethiopia, and many other places.

Well it won't be an overnight process for sure. First step is in removing Republican domination in the House and Senate this November. Next step will be getting anyone other than another Republican elected as President in 2008. In the meantime I think we can pretty much anticipate more of the same ole same ole because this President and administration is too arrogant to consider there might be a better way to handle things than the way they've done so to date.

ummm, first, stop thinking you guys are all that, think a little, elect a REAL president, listen to the UN and act within its guidelines. watch real news. open up to the rest of the world, and stop thinking that you can rule the world. if you guys just stopped meddling in other people's affairs, you'd get this huge popularity boost that you never expected. but most importantly, LISTEN to what the other 6billion and something people are saying in the world. that would take you guys far...

Quite starting wars, butt out of other peoples business, work within the existing UN framework so it is a united effort, and quit acting like jerks!
