im considering moving to san diego to go to sdsu and i was just wondering what the surrounding area was like. i know san diego is mostly nice as a whole compared to other cities but i know that every large city has its lesser parts and ive heard that the university area is close to it. just wanting a native of the city or area to give their opinions. thanks.

most of the areas in san diego county are nice the few areas that are lesser aren't even close to the most getto of cities, the are just slightly run down but around the colleges they are usually clean and nice, You can always live a little further away from campus if you need things to be cheaper, If you come here you'll love it the beaches are some of the cleanest and the people are mostly nice some areas are a bit on the snobish side but hey they have the money to back it up... BUt on the whole i'd go no other place

The area around SDSU is mostly students and none of the areas around there are too bad. If you go a little ways there are some not great areas, like Lemon Grove, or the area by downtown that is not in a touristy area. The area by SDSU is not the best area in San Diego but it's not bad. If you are going to school there, I would live near the school, Mission Valley, or La Mesa. In general, in my opinion, the nicer areas near SDSU are mostly on the north side of the 8 freeway or close to the freeway so I wouldn't go too far south. It seems like a lot of the worse areas are closer to the 94 freeway until you go a ways inland.

The area around SDSU is mostly populated with students. Overall it's not a bad area, but like any place in a city, be smart, be aware. There are a lot of apartments and frat houses and I think the college has housing there too. You'll probably enjoy it. Any other questions about SD in general, contact me.

SDSU area is a bit hilly. Don't rent/live in downtown SD. Study hard. Not much night life in SD.
