As guys, don't we end up paying out $ anyway? Doesn't the word "husband" mean provider. So if you directly provide for your sexual partner, why is it taboo?

Simply stated, if you could hire a prostitute then you could cheat on your wife legally. Women don't like the thought that infidelity could some how become legal. There is also the thought that if prostitution were legal STD's might be a culpable offense. Not to mention rates would probably get standardized, and then there is the whole question of who gets to deduct the cost of the room?
