There was a show on ABC (i think) that was a talent show for singers. i was really starting to get interested but all of the sudden it is just gone. Does anyone know if it was canceled? Will be on in the fall with the results? Or what?

LOS ANGELES -- The title of ABC's "The One" was meant to refer to the winner of a singing competition -- not the show's ratings.
Its ratings in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic were really that low, however, and so ABC has pulled the plug on "The One" after just two weeks. There probably has to be a winner declared at some point, but as of Friday morning there were no plans to broadcast the results.
The series (full title: "The One: Making a Music Star") was to have been a sort of "American Idol"-meets-"The Real World" hybrid in which viewers would follow the lives of contestants offstage as well as on. It was based on a show from Spain called "Operacion Triunfo," which was a massive hit in that country.
On these shores, though, it mostly looked like a pale imitation of "Idol" to the few who watched it. "The One" debuted to only 3.08 million viewers on Tuesday, July 18, and its first results show the next night drew an even smaller audience. For shows on the Big Four networks, that's the smallest audience for a series premiere since 1990.
What's more, the 18-49 rating for the premiere was a barely-there 1.1 -- the lowest ever for a series premiere on ABC, which has been around for more than 50 years.
ABC let the show go for one more week, hoping for an uptick in the ratings. It didn't come, and now the show is history.
The network will fill "The One's" Tuesday spot with reruns of "According to Jim" and a comedy to be named later, while "George Lopez" will take the Wednesday-night timeslot previously held by the results show.
