given me gas money. my boyfriend and i went out of town and on the way home we thought we had enough money for gas and ended up not having more than $7!! we had pumped almost $20 in gas so we had to ask people for money. this one guy gave us almost $10 bucks. it was really embarrassing but humbling at the same time.

You know, I have to say I have strangers do things for me all the time. I can't think of the nicest, but the most recent was a lady emailed me to see if I was okay. I was depressed last night, and she took the time to ask to check on me. I'm so amazed everytime someone takes the time to just be nice to me.

when our dog was a puppy, we had him attached to a long cable so he could run in the garden for awhile. the law where we live requires that all pets must be on a lead or tied up outdoors. during the 15 minutes he was out there when we were in the house, somebody stole him. his collar and tags were still attached to the cable but he was gone. three days later a little girl (12 years old) came to our door, our puppy in tow. she found him bound to a tree at the school playground and went knocking on every single door for almost two miles until she found where he belonged. my children were very young at the time and her kindness and persistence to find his rightful owner was the nicest thing any stranger has every done for us. we offered her a generous reward but she refused to accept it.

As a teenager in an ice storm, I felt it my duty to show up to work (long story). I ended up stuck in a ditch, and the people in a nearby house used a truck and a perfectly good blanket to help get my car out of the ditch. I was also pretty scared about the whole ordeal- the first man to help me went behind his grandmother's house and started using a chain saw. I thought for sure I was a gonner. He turned out to be really nice and insisted I keep warm inside with his grandmother. The whole thing was very sweet with how everyone helped me out.

Oh, and one time some people gave us tickets to see Richie Havens at the door because they bought extras. We got in for free. Very cool. :)

I have two.

Once- a stranger left $500 at my sister's desk because she was taking care of me and going to college.

Also- today (it doesnt really fit but oh well) I was walking and the crosswalk said dont walk so I stopped and the lady turning waved as if she cut me off. It was just unlike anyone around here that it made me smile.

I was in a bad car accident and I was slurring my words and my eyes kept rolling back, from hitting my head, not drugs or alcohol ,but I was in denial, said I was fine and tried to get out of the car but had to be cut out, these guys came over and convined me to calm down and stay where I was until help came, they called 911 when I told them I just called my job and let them know I would be late, they thought I called 911, I might have tried breaking my window or crawling out of it and got hurt more than I was if they were not so calm and patient

My 2 girlfriends and I were in Paris backpacking years ago, totally lost and didn't know where we were going. A French woman came up to us and asked in broken English if we needed directions. It was such a nice gesture and a pleasant surprise since we thought before the trip that French were snotty people.

One time on Christmas Eve, I was out shopping with my dad and we needed to turn left off of a busy 6 lane road. The traffic was particularly heavy that day and three lanes of traffic stopped so that we could turn - I never would have believed if if I hadn't seen it for myself.

Good question - makes us think (and maybe pay it forward).

One time I got into my dates's appartment to get his wallet he had "forgotten" then he tried to have sex, it was our first date, when I refused he got mad and scared the hell out of me, in my rush to get out I left my purse in his car, he got in the car and tried to find me, but a neighbor, an older nice looking man saw the whole thing and asked me if I wanted to call the police, I said no, all I wanted to do was to go home, he offered me a ride home, but I lived really far away, he said it was ok, then he took me to a Denny's to compose myself and tried to convince me again to call the cops on the guy, but I did not want to, I had gone thru enough that night, the only thing was my purse with all my id's and credit cards, he took me home, then a few days later I received in the mail my purse I had left in the jerk's car, he went and got it from him..!!!!! He was such a sweet person, I think he was an angel looking out for me.

A lady let me come in her house to call my mom after I wrecked my car when I was 17 and then stayed with me the whole time until my mom got to the scene.
