Why do rednecks exist?

The popular etymology says that the term derives from such individuals having a red neck caused by working outdoors in the sunlight over the course of their lifetime. The effect of decades of direct sunlight on the exposed skin of the back of the neck not only reddens fair skin, but renders it leathery and tough, and typically very wrinkled and spotted by late middle age. Similarly, some historians claim that the term redneck originated in 17th-Century Virginia, because indentured servants were sunburnt while tending plantation crops.

However in today's society it generally refers to individuals living in Appalachia, the Southern United States, the Ozarks, and later the Rocky Mountain States.

Well if you are talking about the West Virginia Coal miners in the 1800's Rednecks exist because of unfair working conditions that were downright lethal in the coal mines. This is one of the biggest fights in history and it still seems to be going on today. They were called rednecks because when the miners went on strike and started a malitia to counter the gunmen shooting them down they wore red hankerchiefs around their neck to signify their allegiance to the union. Or if you are talking about the rednecks who have sunburned necks because they work outside all day so that you can eat and have clothes and a place to live then I guees I already answered your question. They exist so that everyone can exist. So if you want to get rid of them I suggest you start learning how to grow your own food. Of course then you will be a redneck and shall have to be gotten rid of yourself.

As long as old Ford trucks with confederate flag license plates that get struck in the mud...as long as there are empty beer cans in the monnlight...as long as there is ammunition and something that explodes when you shoot it...there will be rednecks.

Sociologists have determined that as soon as you leave most metropolitan areas, the West And East coasts and Chicago, North America is literally crawling with rednecks. Perhaps it is the default state Americans revert to as soon as they don't have paved roads or off Broadway entertainment. Rednecks believe that they could exist without those "Blue State types", but those city slickers would die without rednecks keeping the coal mines, powerplants, farms, trailer parks and shooting ranges in operation. I agree with them, only only because I am surrounded by them on all sides and don't want to make trouble.

Rednecks exist because its a form of relaxation. The things rednecks enjoy are fishing, hunting, race car etc. They come home from a hard days of work and relax.

Just like hispanics come home from a hard day of work and relax by cheating on their wifes.

Just like blacks come home from skipping work and shoot off guns.

Just like jewish people come from a hard days of work and think about how they cant get more money.

Because of a few evil men in government who decided it would be best to keep the states south of the mason dixon line poor. those men are:
Gen. william tecumseh sherman(may he be damned to hell), who burned and destroyed a lot of infrastructure in the south. by todays standards he would be considered a war criminal.

President Andrew Johnson, Vice president to Abraham Lincoln. who together with the union congress conspired to kill president Lincoln. Lincoln intended to bring the country back together without a governmental punishment on the southern states. The other men were intent on revenge against the south for attempting to secede.

President Ulysses S. Grant. former general of the Union army. As 18th president he did his part to exact payment from the south.

And that kept the southern states lagging behind the northern ones in terms of public education and economics well into the 20th century.
