I have 2 oscars in my tank, they been together since litle guys. I know the nature of these fish since i have had several through out the years. Now suddenly it seems that one of the fish fell in love with the airerator tube n bubles, I mean obsessed! It became quite agressive to the other fish. This morning i found the smaller one loged underneath a stump in the bottom of my tank.Still bearly alive but alive. sides of the fish were verry scraped n fins tor up, so close to death that the eyes were turning white. It still had some fight so i dont just call it done. Now 14 hrs later the eyes are cleared up ,seems to be breathing better, but still floating on its side. The other oscar keeps rubbing its side on the sick one and blocks the other fish from getting close. Is this a way to kill the fish off, or is it trying to be of help?Should i let the fish stay in the water to see if it will pull through?Seperate them or what?It still has enough to kick around when bothered. What to do?

Separate the fish as soon as possible and move the sick fish into a hospital tank. Extremely clean water, a gentle filter and treat the tank with Melafix. Feed lightly, but regularly. Do a daily water change of 25% or so, and make sure to add more melafix everyday, as per the directions... the fish should bounce back... it's got to be some kind of bad before that combination will not work.

You MUST make sure this fish is exposed to zero ammonia... make sure the filter you're using is fully cycled (use some media from the filter on your big tank). If you need more advice from friendly people like me, try albertaaquatica.com... we like to help.

If you are unable to separate them because you don't have another tank or $ to buy one, one thing you could try is moving around all the decorations. Oscars like all chiclids are territorial and will defend what they believe is theirs. Your aggressive oscar could be protecting "his" airerator tube. If you mix up the gravel and move around the decorations or even switch them out for new ones, your oscars will no longer have territory and might get along better.

Oscar is under Cicilid species, when they are Young they can live together but still need Stone or decoration for them to die. But if it grow up to adult , they will fight for own terrorist.
You might wan to try 6 oscar to together next time as a community tank.

You need to seperate them immediatly. Oscars are very territorial, the one that is staying near the airerator tube is trying to keep the other one away from his territory, if the hurt oscar gets anywhere near the other ones territory he may injure or kill him....

You should separate the Fish right now, if the fish floats up on it's side, most likely, it will die. Separate the fish for a f days, and then put them back, and see what happends.

I know that Oscars can be very aggressive and may not live well with others. You must separate them immediately to save the weaker fish!
