I have a Toshiba Satelite laptop-got it from my boss. I have Windows ME and for internet have VZ Access Manager. I click on Web to get on the internet. National Access-Broadband Access is what it says the network is. I only get two out of four bars anywhere in my house. My problem is I get a lot of pages not loading because the connection has timed out, etc. I posted a question before about this and was told check my connection settings. Pretend I am five years old and please explain how to do this. My pages, if they load, take at least 20 to 60 seconds. Downloads are a nightmare. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the problem.

you are using Verizon's CDMA data network and depending on where you live, you may be on 1XRTT data network ( the old 3G from a few years ago) where you get about dialup speed, say around 56kbps.

Unless you are on their EVDO high speed network, where you may get 700kbps, which is more on par with DSL.

A good place to start is a bandwidth speed test.

Do two tests, one as dialup, and one as DSL. when you go to the link you will see what I mean. After the tests, you will get an idea of how fast the network is.

Secondly, call Verizon and see which data network is available in your area, 1XRTT or EVDO..

Good Luck, there is not much more you can do.

oay first what you do is you go to tool on the top of the screen, then you go down to internet options, afterwards you click on the tab that says connections and then you click on LAN settings after that just let the computer automatically adjust it for you, that's what i do i don't know how to do it manually.
